Dear Members,
Welcome back! The summer break has revitalized our energy, and the new academic year is full of potential. The HKAHSS Executive Committee wishes you a dynamic and successful term ahead. As we embark on our new term, here are the latest updates, insights, and opportunities from our association to help you and your students thrive.
1. Membership Drive
We are pleased to share that HKAHSS has 463 members for the 2024-2025 year. Thank you for your steadfast support.
Our annual membership drive is underway, and we are excited to grow our community. We extend a special invitation to new principals to join us and benefit from the collective strength of the HKAHSS. For our returning members, we greatly appreciate your ongoing commitment and look forward to your involvement this year. We also value the participation of vice principals, assistant principals, retired principals, and former principals in our Association. Please encourage your colleagues to get involved.
To subscribe, please complete the relevant membership form (Full/Associate Member or Life/Affiliated Member), available on our Association website. Once completed, kindly return the form along with a cheque to Mr. Wan Ka Kit, Andy, our Hon. Treasurer.
2. Annual General Meeting 2025 & Election (2/12)
Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) will take place on Tuesday, 2nd December 2025. Building upon the momentum of our 60th Anniversary, this year continues under the theme: “Raising the Bar: To Go Above and Beyond”, as we strive to embrace new possibilities and achieve greater heights.
With the rapid rise of AI in Education, we are thrilled to collaborate with Professor Erwin Huang 黃岳永教授 and his team on an innovative practice. This project brings his AI learning buddy, “Professor E”, originally created for university students, to the secondary level.
In the Year 0 pilot phase, five schools have stepped forward as pioneers. By using the AI learning buddy, Professor E, and a reflection model, they aim to help students build reflective and independent learning skills in academics, life planning, and life-wide learning.
We are also excited that Ms. Kristin Li, the generous donor behind the Professor E Project, will be joining us at the AGM. She will share her expertise in a session titled “Gen Z at the Heart: Business Insights for Principals”, offering valuable perspectives on understanding and engaging with the next generation.
We warmly invite you to click the following link to join us for this exciting event and be part of the journey.

5. SRL Schools Charter Scheme (Phase III) 2025-2028
HKAHSS has been promoting Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) since 2012. Over the past decade, member schools have formed the “SRL Network School”, working towards a shared educational vision and exploring strategies to enhance learning and teaching. The SRL Program enhances principals’ instructional leadership while fostering a professional learning community both within and across schools. It promotes professional development and serves as a platform for pedagogical innovation. To mark the 10th Anniversary of the SRL Program, the HKAHSS launched the “SRL Schools Charter” in 2022. With the 3rd phase of the three-year program commencing this year, this initiative aims to unite more like-minded schools to collaborate in promoting high-quality SRL, enabling students to learn better and teachers to teach more effectively. The Schools Charter is structured around the following core aims:
- To jointly advocate for the development of the SRL campaign and learning community across schools
- To collaboratively share practical examples of SRL and successful school-based experiences
- To collectively commend the instructional achievements in SRL and the joint efforts of teachers
- To promote sustainable improvement in SRL and instructional innovation in the school sector
Schools participating in this initiative are encouraged to pledge their commitment to advancing the “SRL Schools Charter” and to share their experiences and outcomes related to SRL practices. Schools may choose to join as either:
- Emerging Schools啟航學校: Secondary schools in Hong Kong that are in the initial stages of implementing or promoting SRL practices.
OR
- Polaris Schools 領航學校: Secondary schools that have actively promoted SRL over the past two years through activities such as hosting open classes, facilitating teacher professional development, and sharing exemplary practices.
For detailed information, please click HERE. Schools interested in joining the scheme should download and complete the SRL School Information Form (Annex II) and the School Development Plan on SRL (Annex III) using this LINK.
The submission deadline is 30th September 2025.
6. SRL Festival 2025/26
The SRL Festival 2025/26 is strategically organized into two distinct rounds of Open Classes, fostering a comprehensive and immersive learning experience. The 2 rounds will occur during the periods of:
- November 2025 to January 2026, and
- February to May 2026.
Teachers are warmly encouraged to actively participate in this enriching festival. We extend a special invitation to teachers urging them to voluntarily open their classes for peer observation and engage in post-observation discussions. Such participation is instrumental in cultivating professional growth and facilitating the exchange of pedagogical practices.

We warmly invite you and your colleagues to join this Annual Professional Development Day, designed to foster collaborative growth and innovation within the educational community. 10. HKAHSS Recommendation for the Chief Executive Policy Address 2025
It has been our annual practice to send a letter to the Chief Executive, Mr. Lee Ka-chiu John, to share our views and suggestions regarding the education sector in the upcoming Policy Address.
In light of rapid technological advances and national strategies, HKAHSS urges the government to accelerate the formulation of a comprehensive digital education policy by 2026, enhance the authority of relevant steering committees, and leverage Hong Kong’s unique position to establish AI training bases and develop localized AI educational tools.
Furthermore, amid current fiscal and demographic challenges, the association calls for sustainable, forward-looking policies—including attracting non-local students, improving cross-district school place allocation, granting schools greater financial flexibility, and conducting deeper stakeholder consultation—to ensure a healthy education ecosystem that nurtures talent capable of supporting both Hong Kong’s and the nation’s future development.
Our letter has been sent to the Chief Executive’s Office in August 2025 and the contents have been uploaded to our website. For details, please see this LINK.
