Dear Colleagues,

Happy New Year! On behalf of the Executive Committee, I extend our heartfelt greetings and best wishes for a vibrant and fulfilling 2026. May this year offer you inspiring learning opportunities, ongoing professional development, and meaningful collaboration with both fellow educators and students. We hope you’ll enjoy reading the following uplifting report:

1. HKAHSS 60th Anniversary Magazine

To close the 60th Anniversary Celebration, we would like to announce the publication of the HKAHSS 60th Anniversary Magazine.  Guided by the anniversary theme “Raising the Bar: To Go Above and Beyond (上下求索 跨高越遠), this commemorative edition celebrates 60 years of dedication, collaboration, and advocacy by Hong Kong’s secondary school leaders.  It stands as a testament to our shared vision of advancing quality education in our city, and to the enduring spirit of collegiality that has guided our Association since its founding.  As we celebrate this milestone, we reaffirm our mission to uphold the professionalism of school leadership, foster trust and collegiality among principals, and engage meaningfully in educational discourse and policy development.

We invite you to explore the magazine, which captures the rich history, achievements, and aspirations of our Association.  The ebook version is now available at the following link:

Looking ahead, we remain steadfast in our collective goal of promoting a dynamic, student‑centred, and future‑ready education system for Hong Kong.  Together, we will carry forward the legacy of HKAHSS and continue to shape the future of education in Hong Kong.

2. HKAHSS Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2025

The Annual General Meeting 2025 was held in the morning of Tuesday, 2nd December 2025 at The Cityview.  The theme, “Raising the Bar: To Go Above and Beyond (Part 2)”, continued the momentum of our 60th Anniversary, inspiring participants to embrace new possibilities and strive for greater heights.

A highlight of the program was the collaboration with Professor Erwin Huang 黃岳永教授and his team from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.  Together, they introduced the AI learning buddy “Professor E” to secondary schools, building on its success at the university level.  In the Year 0 pilot phase, five pioneering schools adopted Professor E alongside a reflection model to help students cultivate independent learning, life planning, and life‑wide skills.  Sharing from two schools demonstrated how Professor E enhanced study trips by providing personalized feedback, summarizing key points, and generating reflective questions that motivated students to continue meaningful dialogue.

We were also honored to welcome Ms. Kristine Li 李敬恩小姐, General Manager of Henderson Land Development, as Guest‑of‑Honor. Ms. Li delivered a session titled “Gen Z at the Heart: Business Insights for Principals”, offering valuable perspectives on communication, creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and resilience.  She further shared case studies of Henderson’s landmark projects— H Queen’s and The Henderson—which illustrated how innovation, design excellence, and adaptability are shaping the future market and underscored the importance of these core skills for education and leadership.

6. “Buddy-Prof E” Project 2025/26

In December 2025, we were delighted to invite schools to participate in an exciting new initiative: “Buddy-Prof E (Student Learning Buddy: AI “Professor E” in Secondary Schools)” Project.

Professor E — the AI Learning Buddy, developed by Professor Erwin Huang (黃岳永教授) and his team at HKUST.  With the rapid rise of AI in education, this project offers secondary schools a unique opportunity to explore how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be integrated into the curriculum while serving as a powerful reflection tool for students.

Professor E was originally designed for university students, but we are now bringing this innovative platform to the secondary school level.  In this Year 0 pilot phase (2025/26), 5 pioneering schools have already stepped forward to adopt Professor E.  By using the AI learning buddy alongside a structured reflection model, these schools aim to help students build reflective and independent learning skills that extend across academics, life planning, and life-wide learning.

In January 2026, we have received a total of 64 school applications.  Students will try this AI tool to enhance their reflection during the CS trip (公民科學習團) or any study trip in the 2025/26 academic year.  By engaging with Professor E, students will not only enhance their study tour experiences but also develop the critical thinking and self-reflection skills needed to thrive in an AI-driven world.

The HKUST will contact schools shortly to announce the results of their applications.  We look forward to collaborating with you on this meaningful journey and to supporting your school in empowering students through innovative learning practices.
