Effective Communication in Conflict Situations
A Workshop for Secondary School Teachers

7 August 2020 (Friday)

During Hong Kong’s social movement in the past year, there has been a surge in conflict between individuals, families, and within organisations, and there has been no relief from or resolution of deep-rooted differences. As Hong Kong society becomes more polarised, schools are not spared from such conflicts. If conflicts are not handled effectively when they arise in the school, they can affect order and safety, interpersonal relationships, causing great distress to teachers, students and parents. How can teachers handle conflicts arising from social events in order to diffuse effectively risks in the school place? The workshop aims to enable secondary school teachers to address conflicts in schools more confidently and more effectively through gaining new insight into conflict and conflict situations and becoming more familiar with different ways of communication and their effectiveness.
